General Information About LIMA / TRUJILLO / CHICLAYO

Peru is a country with a rich history and great cultural diversity. Its history dates back more than 15,000 years, when the first inhabitants of Peru began to settle in the region. Over the centuries, Peru has been inhabited by different cultures and civilizations, each of which has left its mark on the country's history.

The oldest civilization in Peru is the Chavin civilization, which flourished between 1000 BC and 200 AD. The Chavín were a very advanced culture for their time, and were noted for their achievements in the fields of architecture, sculpture and ceramics.

Peru has also been influenced by the arrival of different peoples and cultures throughout its history. The Incas are perhaps Peru's best known civilization, and their empire spanned much of South America during the 15th century. The Incas were noted for their achievements in engineering and architecture, and built a network of roads and bridges that linked the entire empire.

Peru finally achieved its independence in 1821 and became a free and sovereign country. Since then, it has gone through many changes and faced many challenges, including civil wars and political conflicts. Nevertheless, Lima is the capital of Peru and was once the capital of the country.
Lima is the capital of Peru and was founded in 1535 by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro. In Lima there are many things to do, such as visiting museums, seeing historical monuments, enjoying Peruvian food and getting to know the local culture.

Trujillo is a city in northwestern Peru and was founded in 1534 by Pizarro. In Trujillo you can visit historical sites such as the Plaza de Armas and the Trujillo Castle, and you can also enjoy the local food and culture.
Chimbote is a city in northern Peru and was founded in 1835. It is an important port and industrial center on the Peruvian coast. In Chimbote you can visit the Central Market and enjoy the local food. You can also enjoy the nearby beaches and practice water sports.

Day 2: LIMA / TRUJILLO - HUACAS DEL SOL Y LA LUNA (SUN AND MOON HUACAS)

Breakfast at the hotel. At the indicated time we will transfer you to the airport to take the flight to the city of Trujillo. Upon arrival our staff will be waiting to transfer you to the selected hotel.

In the afternoon we will visit the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, imposing monuments built by the Moche culture, ancestors of the Chimu, where in their friezes you can appreciate the rich mythology that enveloped this people. These "pyramids" or "huacas" are huge adobe buildings built in the 5th century, with countless tombs and polychrome murals representing their deity Ai Apaec. It is believed that both pyramids were complementary, one for administrative purposes and the other more for religious purposes. Overnight in Trujillo.

Day 3: TRUJILLO - CHAN CHAN

Breakfast at the hotel. The purpose of this tour is to visit Chan Chan, the largest mud city on the planet, ancient capital of the Chimu kingdom, a culture descended from the Mochicas (Mr. De Sipan). During our tour we will visit the monumental area and the entrance to the Tschudi Palace, which in its 11.5 hectares of extension shows us all the splendor and splendor of one of the most advanced civilizations of its time, through the management of its spaces, the exquisite beauty of its friezes and the solidity of its constructions.

Free afternoon for personal activities. Overnight in Trujillo.

Day 4: TRUJILLO - EL BRUO / CHICLAYO - HUACA RAJADA (LORD OF SIPAN)

Breakfast at the hotel. At the coordinated time we will pick you up from your hotel and drive along the Panamericana Norte, crossing extensive sugar cane plantations to reach the Huaca Cao Viejo of the archaeological complex El Brujo, an important ceremonial center where through the iconographic language expressed in its polychrome murals, the past tells us about the rituals practiced by the Moche culture. El Brujo owes its name to the constant affluence of the so-called sorcerers or northern healers (shamans) to this place, who performed and still perform healing ceremonies in mountains or pre-Hispanic ruins such as Huaca Cao Viejo, considering that in these places there are remarkable sources of energy.

Thus, being an important ceremonial center, the main constructions of "El Brujo" were made to worship the gods, and the ornamentation of the same, show representations of ritual scenes and dedication to their main divinities.

Similarly, the high reliefs on the walls of the temple (Huaca Cao Viejo) show a variety of themes, from everyday images to representations of sacred figures as the inevitable image of the "Decapitator", a supernatural image, anthropomorphic and with feline features found in the main front, which would be the representation of the main Mochica deity, the god Ai Apaec.

Then we will continue our excursion to the archaeological complex of Huaca Rajada, located 28 kilometers from the city of Chiclayo. There we will be able to observe two large and eroded pyramidal structures joined by a funerary platform, where the same environments where the tombs of the Lord of Sipan, the Priest and the Old Lord of Sipan were discovered are preserved.

It was 1987, when the tomb of the most famous of them all was found, that of the Lord of Sipan, one of the main attractions of this place due to the importance and excellent state of preservation in which it was found. Along with this, samples of gold work were found (especially funerary masks), and numerous pieces that covered his skeleton, such as the pectoral, bracelets, the scepter of command, in addition to clothing and gold jewelry. After the excursion, transfer to the city of Chiclayo and overnight.

Day 5: CHICLAYO - MUSEUM OF THE LORD OF SIPAN ROYAL TUMBES

Breakfast at the hotel. At the coordinated time we will go to the city of Lambayeque to visit the important museum: "Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipan", located 11 km from the city of Chiclayo. The exhibition shows us the hierarch together with his valuable jewels, some Moche warrior tombs and important gold pieces, the result of the hard work done by the Peruvian archaeologist Walter Alva.

The architecture of the Museum is inspired by the ancient Mochica Sanctuaries, where platforms and ramps are combined, resulting in being considered one of the best museums in South America. Return to Chiclayo and overnight.

Day 6: CHICLAYO

Breakfast at the hotel. At the indicated time we will transfer you to the airport to continue with your itinerary.
